1 February 1871 — the zemstvo post of Vesyegonsky Uyezd (Tver Governorate) was opened. At first, mail was dispatched once a week; from 1874 — twice a week from the uyezd center, the town of Vesyegonsk, along the zemstvo route toward the town of Krasny Kholm, via 22 volost administrations. Delivery of private correspondence was paid for with zemstvo postage stamps. All of them bear images of the gubernial and uyezd coats of arms.
From 1895 — due to changes in zemstvo postal rates, stamps in denominations of 3 and 10 kopeks were issued.
The stamps were printed in private printing houses, and also at EZGB in 1912; they were cancelled with ink (by crossing out and adding the date) and with various handstamps.
