Second revaluation.
The Armenian Socialist Soviet Republic (ASSR) was established on November 29, 1920. In December 1921, a series of 16 stamps with original designs based on projects by artist Sarkis Khachatryan was printed (the so-called First Constantinople Issue). The stamps were printed by lithography on plain paper, both perforated and imperforate.
In April 1922, all stamps of the First Constantinople Issue were overprinted with numeral handstamps in black or red ink showing a new denomination and were put into circulation. Stamps are also found with the new denomination written by hand in red and violet ink. Such stamps are of philatelic interest only on postal items and on cut-outs from them with clear postal cancellations.
Forgeries of foreign origin are known for all stamps of both the First and Second Constantinople Issues. They differ from the genuine stamps in the printing method and details of the design. All stamps of the Second Issue are found with fake perforations.
