The Republic of Gagauzia was a self-proclaimed state on part of the territory of the former Moldavian SSR, which existed from 1990 to 1994 (legally), and in practice until 1995. It was peacefully reintegrated into the Republic of Moldova between December 1994 and July 1995. Today it is the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia.
