May 18 — industrial production of the first lawn mowers began in the United States.

July 12 — a revolt of soldiers, sailors, and the urban population in Sevastopol.

September 15 — in England, the ceremonial opening of the first intercity steam-powered railway line took place: from Liverpool to Manchester.

September 18 — a horse outran the first American steam locomotive in a 9-mile race between Riley’s Tavern and Baltimore.

October 1 — in Boldino, A. S. Pushkin completed work on the initial eighth chapter of *Eugene Onegin* (“Onegin’s Journey”).

1830–1831 — the Polish uprising against tsarism in the Kingdom of Poland and in the territories of Lithuania, Western Belarus, and Right-Bank Ukraine. After suppressing the Polish uprising, the tsarist regime abolished the constitution granted to Poland in 1815.
