A fantasy issue of Turkestan. The stamps appeared on sale in 1920, allegedly issued by Baron Ungern-Sternberg before his armyβs retreat from Eastern Turkestan to Mongolia. The issue consists of 20 stamps with overprints on imperforate 1- and 2-kopeck stamps of the Russian Empire. The stamps are clearly of foreign production, since in the word "RUB" (the 5 and 10 ruble denominations) a soft sign ("Π¬") was printed instead of the letter "B".
