The second standard series.
In December 1923, in connection with the transition to the gold-based accounting system, a new series of postage stamps was issued, with denominations from 1 to 18 kopecks in gold. The design of the stamps in this series repeated the previous one: Mount Ararat, oil derricks, topped with the federation’s coat of arms within the rays of a five-pointed star. In total, seven different denominations were issued, single-color, perforated.
All TSFSR stamps are known in imperforate form; however, they were not used for postal purposes. Imperforate stamps with fake cancellations are encountered.
From 1 January 1924, the USSR People’s Commissariat of Posts and Telegraphs introduced all-Union standard stamps denominated in gold currency into circulation at all communications offices in Transcaucasia. From 1 February 1924, all local postage payment signs were invalidated.
