The Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic (Georgian: Sakartvelos Sabchota Sotsialisturi Respublika) was one of the republics of the Soviet Union, of which it was a part from 5 December 1936 to 9 April (de facto) or 26 December (de jure) 1991.
From 1921 to 1936, its official name was the Socialist Soviet Republic of Georgia. It was established on 25 February 1921. From 12 March 1922 to 5 December 1936, it was part of the Transcaucasian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic.
