6 January — Alexander I issued a manifesto declaring the end of the Patriotic War.
13 January — Russian troops led by Emperor Alexander I, under the command of Field Marshal M. I. Kutuzov, crossed the Neman River and, entering the Duchy of Warsaw, began the liberation of Europe from Napoleon.
25 June — In Kazan Cathedral in Saint Petersburg, the great Russian military commander Mikhail Illarionovich Golenishchev-Kutuzov was buried.
16 October — The "Battle of the Nations" began (lasting until 19 October), involving the forces of France, the Confederation of the Rhine, Poland, Austria, Prussia, Russia, and Sweden; it ended in a crushing defeat of Napoleon's army and his first abdication from the throne.
5 November — Russia and Persia signed the Treaty of Gulistan, which ended the Russo-Persian War of 1804–1813.
