Znamenovka is located 7 km from the left bank of the Samara River, 1 km from the urban-type settlement of Melioratyvne and 2.5 km from the village of Novotroitske. The area around the village is heavily marshy and has large lakes, including Solonyi Lyman Lake. A forested area (pine) adjoins the village. The village was founded in 1779. Its first residents were retired soldiers and Cossacks. Their duties included building and maintaining the postal route and the stage road between Novoselytsia and Matveevna.
