The stamp design was clearly borrowed from postcards published by the artists A.V. Makovsky and A.I. Lazhechnikov.

A St. Petersburg publishing house founded by Alexander Makovsky, the son of the prominent Russian painter Vladimir Egorovich Makovsky, together with the artist A.I. Lazhechnikov. The publisher produced monochrome (halftone) and color postcards featuring reproductions of paintings by Russian artists, mainly the Peredvizhniki (Wanderers).
