March 20, 1901 — the Zemstvo post of Bakhmut Uyezd (Yekaterinoslav Governorate) was opened. Mail was sent from the uyezd administrative center, the city of Bakhmut (now Artemovsk), to 20 volosts once a week. Delivery of private correspondence was paid for with Zemstvo postage stamps printed at EZGB. The stamps depict the uyezd coat of arms. The post office was closed at the end of 1909.
