First revaluation.

The Socialist Soviet Republic of Armenia (SSRA) was established on 29 November 1920. In December 1921, a set of 16 stamps of original designs was printed from the projects of the artist Sarkis Khachatryan (the so-called First Constantinople Issue). The stamps were lithographed on plain paper, both perforated and imperforate.

In April 1922, all stamps of the First Constantinople Issue were overprinted with numeral handstamps in black or red ink with a new denomination and put into circulation. Stamps are also found with the new denomination written by hand in red and violet ink. Such stamps are of philatelic interest only on postal mail and on cut-outs from it with clear postal cancellations.

Forgeries of foreign origin are known for all stamps of both the first and the second Constantinople Issues. They differ from genuine stamps in the printing method and details of the design. All stamps of the second issue are found with fake perforations.
