"Epirus" is a historical region in Greece.
The Koumbaras family (from the Greek κουμπάρας) was involved in the public catering industry in pre-revolutionary St. Petersburg:
Koumbaras Koumbaras Ivanovich — a Greek tavern keeper, ran a cookshop (a budget-type public catering establishment) at 56 Nikolaevskaya Street (now 56–58 Marata Street). According to the "All Petersburg" directories, he is listed from 1912 to 1917. This cookshop had previously belonged to the Greek Kipereos, and then passed to Koumbaras Ivanovich Koumbaras — until April 17, 1917.
Koumbaras Anton Ivanovich — ran a tavern without strong alcoholic beverages at 23 8th Krasnoarmeyskaya Street (until 1915 — a tavern; from 1915 — a canteen). He is listed in the directories from 1910 to 1916.
