January 6 – a decree was sent to Beloozero ordering the election of delegates to the Zemsky Sobor in Moscow to address the matter of financial support for servicemen and to collect the "third fifth" from merchants.

January – Russian-Swedish peace negotiations began near Staraya Russa with English ambassador John Merick as mediator, but ended without result due to disagreements.

During the year – Novgorodians sent a delegation to Moscow led by Archimandrite Cyprian of the Khutyn Monastery to negotiate the fate of Novgorod, which was under Swedish occupation.

February 22 – March 18 – the Zemsky Sobor convened in Moscow to discuss measures to overcome the devastation of the country and raise funds to defend against Polish and Swedish forces.
