Owner: Adolf Andreevich Teufel. The shop was located in the very center of Kyiv, on Khreshchatyk Street, in building No. 34 (sometimes given as the corner of Khreshchatyk and Prorezna Street, since the building stood on a corner). It was a prestigious and busy location. It was one of the largest and best-known stationery and paper-goods shops in Kyiv. In addition to selling paper, envelopes, postcards, writing supplies, albums, etc., the shop served as a kind of cultural hub. Books, sheet music, art postcards, and posters were sold here. In effect, it was a department store for the intelligentsia, students, and civil servants.
In 1914, with the outbreak of World War I, the shop issued its own charity stamps.
These stamps were sold in the shop, and the proceeds were directed to aid wounded soldiers, families of servicemen at the front, or other wartime charitable funds. This was a common practice among large trading firms at the time.
