January 1, 1878 — the Zemstvo post of Zenkov Uyezd (Poltava Governorate) was opened. Mail was dispatched from the uyezd center, the town of Zenkov, into the district along three routes twice a week. Delivery of private correspondence was paid for with Zemstvo postage stamps of 1, 2, and 3 kopecks. The design of most stamps was composed of typographic type ornaments. They were printed in private printing houses in Poltava. Some stamps bear the image of the uyezd coat of arms. From 1901, stamps were also printed at EZGB. Stamps were canceled in ink (by crossing out, writing the date, the surname of the Zemstvo employee, or the name of the locality).
