20 July 1899 — the Zemstvo Post of Lokhvytsia Uyezd (Poltava Governorate) was opened. Mail was sent from the uyezd administrative center, the town of Lokhvytsia, to the volost administrations. Delivery of private correspondence was paid for with Zemstvo postage stamps. Their shape, size, printing methods, design, and the numerous hand-applied overprints are highly varied. All stamps bear the image of the uyezd coat of arms.
