The coin has the shape of a white-colored disc with a raised rim around the circumference on the obverse (avers) and reverse (reverse) sides. The coin material has ferromagnetic properties.
Obverse:
— in the center — a relief image of Saint George on horseback, striking a serpent with a spear;
— at the lower right, under the horse’s front hoof — the letters: M (Moscow) or S-P (Saint Petersburg), indicating the mint;
— along the upper rim from left to right — an inscription divided by the figure of Saint George: “BANK OF RUSSIA”;
at the bottom, under the image of the serpent — the year of minting.
Reverse:
— in the center (closer to the right edge) — the denomination: the numeral 1, beneath it — the word “KOPEK”, arranged horizontally;
— in the lower part of the disc — a stylized floral ornament in the form of two branches.
