Defect — perforation shift.
Issue: December 1908.
In 1908, stamps of the Eighteenth definitive issue of the Russian Empire were released with a new design for denominations from 1 to 10 kopeks. The remaining stamps retained the previous design. A new paper was developed and used for these stamps: without a watermark, but with a special chalk lozenge-pattern grid. This was done to prevent counterfeiting.
Fragment of a sheet with a control inscription.
Issue with chalk grid, perforated. 1st printing. 1908–1912. (Watermark at the top and bottom of the sheet, paper with horizontal honeycomb pattern).
