Color trial.
The tenth definitive issue of USSR stamps was put into circulation from January 1, 1961 to August 1966. In January 1961, in connection with the monetary reform, stamps of the tenth definitive issue entered circulation under a new price scale. Initially, the series consisted of seven denominations. For the first time on definitive stamps, the year of issue was indicated.
In the miniature, artist Vasily Zavyalov depicted a combine operator at the controls. In 1958, Vasily Zavyalov was nominated for the title “Honored Artist of the RSFSR”; however, because of an error on the stamp “Meeting of Ministers of Communications of Socialist Countries in Moscow” (the colors of the Czechoslovak flag were reversed), the title was not awarded to him. Vasily Vasilyevich received the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR only ten years later. He is buried at Danilovskoye Cemetery, plot 36, in a family grave.
