January 9 — in St. Petersburg, an event occurred that went down in history as "Bloody Sunday." A procession of St. Petersburg workers to the Winter Palace, intended to present Nicholas II with a petition about workers' needs, was dispersed with the use of weapons; between 130 and 200 people were killed. The incident shook the country.
