The stamp design was clearly borrowed from postcards published by the artists A.V. Makovsky and A.I. Lazhechnikov.

A Saint Petersburg publishing house founded by Alexander Makovsky, the son of the outstanding Russian painter Vladimir Egorovich Makovsky, together with the artist A.I. Lazhechnikov. The publishing house produced halftone and color postcards featuring reproductions of paintings by Russian artists, primarily members of the Peredvizhniki movement.
