The stamp design is clearly borrowed from postcards published by the artists A.V. Makovsky and A.I. Lazhechnikov.

A St. Petersburg publishing house founded by Alexander Makovsky, the son of the outstanding Russian artist Vladimir Egorovich Makovsky, together with the artist A.I. Lazhechnikov. The publisher produced monochrome and color postcards featuring reproductions of paintings by Russian artists, mainly members of the Peredvizhniki movement.
